`JESSE EVERETT HAWKINS
rebellious • cynical • passionate
Something Memorable: It's probably his eyes that are the most memorable thing. He's always so brash and rude, but his eyes always tell what he's thinking. Even if he has a mask of indifference on his face, totally hidden from the world, his eyes will tell you anything."
`PERSONALITY
he doesn't care what it is, he'll protest to anything he hates. He won't do something if someone orders him to do it, and will often give attitude only because it suits him and he enjoys it. He doesn't appreciate authority only because it reminds him of being back home, living next to those annoying rich people that always called the police on him. There will be people that he might respect, however, as long as they don't sound "snotty" when they order him to do something. He's just a very picky person, and a lot of things make his skin crawl with annoyance.Cynical: since he hates change, he prefers to look at people as just tiny little ants in an ant farm. But unlike true ants, they all fight for their own survival, not for the colony's survival. To him, everyone is just selfish, careless, and annoying. It's more like his defensive wall that keeps people at bay, only because he is most definitely scared to get close to someone. He pretends that he isn't, and may think he isn't, but it's the most obvious thing about him. So he tends to keep his cynical perspective on life, and keeps to himself.
Passionate: above all, Jesse is a very passionate boy. Ever since he had tried changing who he was, he became dedicated and puts every amount of emotion into all of his work. If he gets grease on his fingers from working on his cars, he tends to look at it as something great rather then something disgusting. If he gets calloused fingers from playing the violin for too long, he won't bother to treat them only because it reminds him that he is good at what he does and he shouldn't be ashamed of it. His passion is the thing that allows him to know that there's something worthy about him.
Strong-willed; not once in his life has Jesse given up or stopped what he was doing because it was too difficult. Even after his mother's break-down, he went through things as best as he could, trying to do his best to impress everyone and anyone. Now he does all of this to gain respect from those around him, though he still has an attitude which doesn't help, in one way or another. Some may think of it as ambition, but he never had that word cross his mind. He may be in doubt, but it's unlikely.
Confused; Jesse is a confused fellow. He knows he's trying to become a better person, get things done, but for some reason his attitude won't disappear. He's also confused on letting people in, because there will be people he will trust. He's just confused about a lot of things, and friendship is one of them. [/ul]

Positive Traits:
•Compassionate & kind: Despite the fact that he's always grumpy and moody, he's actually very kind. It's not as if he wants to be a jerk to everyone, because he's actually just a kid who never had an upcoming. He had no father to teach him, even if he still insist that he's a perfectly formed man. It's obvious that he's trying to be better than his father, even though it makes him miserable on the inside. So if you drop a book or something, he'll probably snicker, but that doesn't mean he won't help you. He acts tough and cruel, but he really isn't.
•Determined: He's pretty much determined in everything he does. Even though his father isn't here anymore, it's as if he's trying to prove himself to some non-existent father that never was. He use to fail at school, always begrudgingly helping his mother with her work, and then going off to fix some trashed up cars. But ever since he got in trouble that one time, when he was fifteen, and his mother broke down into tears because she was just too tired to fight anymore, he kind of began to change. He studied harder, worked harder, tried becoming a better person, and helped his mother. He'd fall asleep in the afternoons just because he had stayed up all night trying to finish something. Even though he changed because he hated seeing his mother, he was doing it because he wanted to prove to his father that they didn't need him, and they - he - were perfectly fine without him.

Negative Traits:
•Blunt: If you wear something he doesn't like on you, he will say it. Have something in your teeth? go to Jesse, because he'll tell you the truth. He's just like that because he had hated lying since he was five. That was pretty young to learn a lesson like that, but someone had broken a promise to him, so it just changed his perspective on things. So he won't mind telling you the truth, even if what he may say is kind of rude.
•Bitter: When someone talks about their fathers, he will grab his stuff and leave the room, no matter where he is. He just doesn't care. He holds grudges, and will always be bitter. His mother had told him that it will once be the death of him, eating away at his soul, but he never listened. He always just replied that he couldn't change who he was.
•Humor: He has dry-humor that most people find rather irritating, 'cause sometimes he directs it at a specific person. He will often make a smart-ass remark about something someone said, only because he has some kind of grudge against them or he just dislikes them. It's just like being sarcastic and blunt, because his humor will come out of no where. It will always be directed at someone, and it pretty harsh.

Most intriguing quirk(s):
•When someone says something he doesn't like, he will often let his nose twitch like a rabbit. It's small and barely noticeable; even Jesse doesn't notice he's doing it.
•Also, he will often run his fingers through his hair just when he's about to do some trouble. That's probably how his mother always stopped him from doing anything dangerous, although sometimes she never caught him at all.
Greatest Ambition: to become a great man, and possibly have a family of his own.
Greatest Fears: His greatest fear is to get close to someone, and have them disappear like his father had done. It can also be reversed. He's scared of leaving someone because he's either just too scared for commitment, or something might happen to him. He doesn't want to leave someone stranded and upset like he had been as a child. So you can say that he's afraid of commitment because of the thought of death.
`HISTORY
Maybe Jesse is so bitter because he had such a nice beginning as a child. Their family was "picture perfect" and happy. James and his father were extremely close. It was almost as if they were exactly alike - even in looks - and they were inseparable. It was normally his father reading him the books, except when he had to go do his duties. He kept his promises when he made them, and didn't lie about them either. It kind of always got Jesse's hopes up, and he had always expected everything to be perfect because that's how it had always been. His father had promised to retire, which made Jesse happy, but it came as a surprise to find him gone one morning. A few months later, they received a letter that his father had gotten killed out in the war. It was only natural for Jesse to get angry, which is probably an understatement, but it got old after a while. He didn't change, but the people of his town did.
Where he lived was a rather rich town, and they only lived there because Jesse's mother owned a fancy restaurant down in the town. It was hard enough trying to support the restaurant with her husband, but it was even harder now that he was gone. Since Jesse was such an angry boy, he often got in trouble, and messed things up quite a bit. People frowned upon him, being a rice society, and often ridiculed him and his mother. One day there was a man who had mocked him on the streets. Angry and upset, Jesse took it out on the man. It was a severe fight, and the man - looking worse than he had before he mocked James - decided to press charges. He was put under house arrest for two months, which had caused his mother to go into emotional hysterics.
Jesse soon became obsessed with trying to be better, no matter how much he'd fail at it. It was evident that he tried hard at times, but he did sometimes succeed better than normal. It so happened, at the time, that Jesse had gotten into mechanics. He would fix old cars, all the while listening to music.

Best Memory: His best and worst memory involved his father. To begin with, his best memory was when he was four years old, and it was the day his father had came back from war. Jesse and his father looked exactly alike, and they both had the same smiles, so it was a rare sight to see something like this. It was almost as if the man was meeting a younger image of himself, and Jesse was meeting a older image of himself in the future. But that wasn't it. It was a father greeting his son with a look of relief on his face, before picking him up and swinging him in his arms. Instead of his mother telling him stories that night, it was his father, tucking him in. They had always been much more closer than Jesse and his mother. So Jesse had been happy. He had been even more happy when his father told him that he was eventually going to retire, and he'd be home with Jesse all the time. He had promised him.
Worst Memory: Now the worst memory was the Army calling Jesse's father for duty one last time. Jesse woke up early in the morning, the sound of a loud engine hitting his ears, and he instantly jumped out of bed to run outside only to see a large jeep driving away. He called out desperately for his father, but it was pointless. A few months later, Jesse's mother received a letter confirming the death of his father. That was when he was five.
Top 3 life-changing moments:
•His mother: after his father died, his mother was kind of the hook that kept him from falling. However, she was getting old and bending, and Jesse knew that. After the house arrest, his mother freaked out on him and it kind of made him realize that he wasn't getting any where with this attitude of his.

`FAMILY
Relationships:
•Elizabeth Mcbeth Hawkins[mother]: is the women who always took care of Jesse. She was pretty upset when her husband died, but her son had taken it harder than any kid his age should have. It was probably because his father had always kept his promises, and broke one even if he never met to. She always cooked for him, helped him with homework, and did everything she possibly could to make him happy. Then she just kind of lost it when Jesse kept getting into trouble until it was finally decided that he would be under house-arrest for an entire month. That was the last straw, and she began to make him work for her. Jesse didn't mind, because he knew his mother was just trying to help him, so he did it even if he whined.
•James Anthony Hawkins[father]: was close to Jesse as a child. They were practically inseparable. He always kept his promises to his son, and his son trusted him. He was in the Army, though, and often left for a while. He wasn't even there when Jesse was born. He was a very noble and honorable man, and did anything to help protect his country. But mostly only to protect his father.
